Yukio Hatoyama is a Japanese politician who served as prime minister from September 2009 to June 2010. He led the Democratic Party of Japan when it ended the Liberal Democratic Party's long period of almost continuous control of the national government. His foreign-policy agenda included closer relations with Asian countries and the idea of an East Asian Community, while his administration also reviewed the planned relocation of the United States Marine Corps air station at Futenma in Okinawa.
