Freiburg Minster

Freiburg Minster's west tower is about 116 meters tall. It is famous because the Gothic tower was completed in the Middle Ages, around 1330.

Freiburg Minster began as a parish church and retained the traditional name Münster in German. It later became the cathedral of Freiburg im Breisgau when the city became an archiepiscopal seat.

The tower is celebrated for its openwork Gothic spire and for surviving as a largely medieval completion. Its roughly 116-meter height made it one of the great church towers of the region.

Freiburg Minster stands in Freiburg im Breisgau in southwest Germany, near the Black Forest. It anchors the city's Münsterplatz, the historic square around the cathedral.
