description Egregia menziesii Overview

Egregia menziesii, commonly called feather boa kelp, is a large brown alga in the family Lessoniaceae. It grows on rocky shores of the northeastern Pacific, from Alaska through California to Baja California, and is especially conspicuous in wave-exposed intertidal habitats. Its long, straplike central axes carry numerous lateral blades and may form dense, flexible masses that move with waves and provide habitat for small marine organisms.
