Peniscola Castle is a medieval clifftop fortress located in the town of Peniscola, Castellón, Spain. The Knights Templar constructed the castle between 1294 and 1307 on the site of former Moorish foundations, serving as a strategic coastal defense. It later gained historical prominence as the residence of Antipope Benedict XIII, known as Papa Luna, from 1415 until his death in 1423. Today, the well-preserved fortress is a major tourist destination and a National Monument.
