description Dusignathus seftoni Overview
Dusignathus seftoni is an extinct walrus relative known from Miocene marine deposits in California. Unlike living walruses, it possessed enlarged canine teeth in both the upper and lower jaws, producing the double-tusked appearance associated with dusignathine walruses. Its fossils are studied as evidence of the greater anatomical diversity that existed among prehistoric members of Odobenidae.
