Chlorophyllum molybdites

description Chlorophyllum molybdites Overview

Chlorophyllum molybdites, the green-spored parasol, is a large white mushroom that grows in lawns, grasslands, and other open grassy areas, often in fairy rings. A green spore print distinguishes it from the edible parasol mushrooms it resembles, and it is responsible for more mushroom poisoning incidents in North America than any other species, causing severe gastrointestinal illness that is rarely fatal.
