Tarandus vel Rangifer is a former northern-sky constellation depicting a reindeer, also known by the names Tarandus, Rangifer, and Renne. French astronomer Pierre Charles Le Monnier introduced it in 1736 in connection with the Maupertuis expedition to Lapland; it was placed between Cassiopeia and Camelopardalis, near the obsolete constellation Custos Messium. It is not one of the 88 constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union and is absent from modern official constellation charts.
