The Battle of Roberts Ridge was fought on Takur Ghar in eastern Afghanistan in March 2002 during Operation Anaconda. It began after Navy SEAL Neil Roberts fell from a helicopter onto the mountain and developed into a series of attempts by United States forces to recover him and secure the summit against entrenched al-Qaeda fighters. Roberts and six other American service members were killed, and the engagement became a prominent case study in special-operations planning, communications, and close air support.
