Oha Soup

description Oha Soup Overview

Oha Soup is a traditional dish of the Igbo people of southeastern Nigeria. Its defining ingredient is the *oha* leaf, also known as *ere*, which comes from the *Pterocarpus mildbraedii* tree. The leaves are hand-torn, as using a knife is traditionally believed to alter the soup's texture. The soup is thickened with *achi*, *ukpo*, or cocoyam paste and cooked with palm oil, meat, and fish.
