Kinglet Chess, also called Imperial Fiddlesticks, is a chess variant associated with V R Parton that changes the normal winning condition. Check and checkmate are not used: kings move as ordinary pieces and may be captured. The goal is to capture all of the opponent's pawns, called kinglets or fiddlesticks; when a pawn reaches the last rank it promotes to a king, so promotion can remove a player's remaining kinglets. The variant emphasizes pawn capture and promotion rather than king safety.
