Lepiota cristata

description Lepiota cristata Overview

Lepiota cristata, the stinking dapperling, is a small gilled mushroom found in Europe in woodland margins, gardens, lawns, and other soils rich in organic matter. It has a pale cap with brownish scales and an unpleasant, rubber-like odor, together with white gills and a slender stem. Some collections have been reported to contain amatoxins, so the species is considered poisonous and should not be eaten.
