Yoshinogari is a large Yayoi-period archaeological settlement in Saga Prefecture on Kyushu, Japan. Its remains include moats, defensive embankments, dwellings, raised-floor buildings, burial areas, storage facilities, and evidence of organized community activity. Occupation extended from the third century BCE into the third century CE, although the settlement changed over time. The site is used to study agriculture, social hierarchy, warfare, trade, and the development of complex communities in prehistoric Japan.
