American Black Duck

description American Black Duck Overview

The American black duck is a large dabbling duck of eastern North America. It is closely related to the Mallard and can interbreed with it, producing hybrids in areas where the two species occur together. The species uses a range of wetland habitats, including freshwater marshes, wooded swamps, tidal marshes, and coastal estuaries, and is of particular importance in northeastern North America.
