The Andean Flicker is a large ground-foraging woodpecker of the high Andes, occurring in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. It is associated with open high-elevation habitats such as puna grassland, rocky slopes, and sparse mountain vegetation, rather than dense lowland forest. The species is adapted to life at elevations that can exceed 4,000 metres and belongs to the flicker genus Colaptes.
