Apsley Cherry-Garrard was a British explorer and writer who lived from 1886 to 1959. He joined Robert Falcon Scott's Terra Nova Expedition to Antarctica from 1910 to 1913 and participated in the winter journey to collect emperor penguin eggs at Cape Crozier. He later recounted the expedition in The Worst Journey in the World, combining personal testimony with an examination of hardship, leadership, and survival during the heroic age of Antarctic exploration.
