AWS Certificate Manager provides public SSL/TLS certificates at no extra certificate charge when used with supported AWS services. You still pay for the AWS services themselves, such as CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancing, or API Gateway.

Can ACM certificates be downloaded and installed on any server?

Public ACM certificates generally cannot be exported for installation on arbitrary non-AWS servers. They are designed to be deployed directly to supported AWS services that integrate with ACM.

How does ACM renew certificates?

ACM can automatically renew certificates when domain validation remains in place, especially with DNS validation through Route 53 or equivalent DNS records. This reduces the risk of expired HTTPS certificates on AWS-hosted apps.
