The Brown-eared Woodpecker is an African woodpecker currently often placed in the genus Pardipicus as Pardipicus caroli; older references commonly use Campethera caroli. It inhabits tropical rainforest and related secondary forest from West Africa across the Congo Basin and into parts of East Africa, where it forages for ants and other small invertebrates among vines and undergrowth.
