The buff-spotted woodpecker (Pardipicus nivosus, formerly Campethera nivosa) is a small member of the woodpecker family Picidae native to tropical central Africa. It grows to about 15 cm and has olive or dark olive upperparts with buff-spotted or barred lowerparts; the male has a red nape that the female lacks. The species is associated with forest habitats, and its plumage pattern is the source of its common name.
