Carol S. Dweck is an American psychologist and professor at Stanford University whose research examines motivation, personality, and beliefs about human abilities. She is known for distinguishing fixed mindsets, in which abilities are viewed as largely unchangeable, from growth mindsets, in which they are viewed as developable. Her studies explore how these beliefs influence responses to effort, feedback, setbacks, and learning.
