Cass Lake is a large glacial freshwater lake located in north-central Minnesota, United States, within the Cass Lake chain of lakes. It is hydrologically connected to the Upper Mississippi River system, with the river's main channel flowing directly through the lake. Historically, the lake and its adjacent wetlands were cited by early European explorers as a potential true source of the Mississippi River. Today, it is a popular recreational destination within the Chippewa National Forest.
