Ernesto "Che" Guevara was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, and author who became a central figure in the 1959 Cuban Revolution. Alongside Fidel Castro, he helped overthrow the Batista dictatorship and subsequently held key roles in the new Cuban government, including president of the national bank. Driven by his anti-imperialist ideology, Guevara later led guerrilla campaigns in the Congo and Bolivia, where he was captured and executed by Bolivian forces in 1967 with assistance from the United States Central Intelligence Agency.
