The Cortez round ray (Urobatis maculatus) is a small species of stingray found primarily in the shallow coastal waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean. It is largely endemic to the Gulf of California in Mexico, where it resides on sandy or muddy sea floors. The species is identifiable by its circular body disc, venomous tail spine, and distinct spotted patterning across its dorsal surface.
