Crown Vetch

description Crown Vetch Overview

Crown Vetch is the Eurasian perennial legume Securigera varia, also known by the older scientific name Coronilla varia. It has trailing or scrambling stems, pinnately compound leaves without tendrils, pink to white flower clusters, and spreading rhizomes. It was planted widely in North America for roadside stabilization, mine reclamation, and erosion control, but escaped populations can form dense cover and displace native vegetation in some regions.
