Cummingella

description Cummingella Overview

Cummingella is an extinct genus of proetid trilobites in the order Proetida. Its fossil record runs from the earliest Carboniferous into the Middle Permian, and specimens have been reported from marine strata in western Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is associated with the subfamily Cummingellinae and is identified from the structure of its cephalon, segmented thorax, and pygidium. This range places it in the later Paleozoic history of trilobites rather than among Cambrian genera.
