description Kathwaia Overview

Kathwaia is an extinct genus of Permian trilobites assigned to the order Proetida. It was described from marine rocks near Kathwai village in Pakistan's Salt Range and is also represented in late Permian records from the North Caucasus; the type species was based on a Salt Range specimen. The genus has a swollen, pear-shaped glabella, small eyes, and a cephalon covered with prominent tubercles, and it is discussed in studies of the last trilobites.
