Duranta erecta

description Duranta erecta Overview

Duranta erecta, widely known as golden dewdrop or skyflower, is a broadleaf evergreen shrub native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, ranging from the southern United States to South America. The plant is characterized by its arching branches, which bear pendulous clusters of pale blue or violet flowers that bloom throughout the warm months. These flowers are followed by the development of drooping clusters of bright golden-yellow berries. While visually attractive to birds, the leaves and unripe berries of this plant contain toxic saponins and are poisonous to humans and many domestic animals.
