Elektro-L No.1 is a Russian geostationary meteorological satellite launched in January 2011 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. It represents the second generation of Russia's geostationary weather satellites and operates over the Indian Ocean region. The satellite is equipped with a multispectral scanner that provides full-disk Earth imagery in visible and infrared spectrums approximately every 30 minutes at 1-kilometer resolution. It supplies continuous data for weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and environmental assessment.
