Eloi Dürrbach

Eloi Dürrbach is noted for his acclaimed blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah at Domaine de Trévallon. This unique combination of grapes was highly unusual for the region and went against the traditional winemaking norms of southern France when he started.

Eloi Dürrbach founded Domaine de Trévallon in 1973 within the Alpilles mountain range in Provence. The rugged limestone terroir of this specific southern French region provides an ideal environment for his unconventional Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah vines.

Domaine de Trévallon was initially denied the local Les Baux-de-Provence AOC status because the appellation's rules did not permit the high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon that Dürrbach used. As a result, his acclaimed Syrah and Cabernet blends were forced to be labeled as a lowly Vin de Table for many years.

Eloi Dürrbach founded Domaine de Trévallon in 1973 after leaving his career in design. He planted his first vines in the rocky soil of the Alpilles region of Provence, eventually creating one of France's most iconic and sought-after 'cult' wines.
