EMD GM6C

description EMD GM6C Overview

The EMD GM6C is a single experimental electric freight locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division in collaboration with ASEA of Sweden. It was rolled out in 1975 as a testbed for North American railway electrification and used thyristor control equipment, drawing power through a pantograph from overhead lines. The locomotive was intended for heavy or drag freight service, but no production series followed.
