Ethiopia is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa with its capital at Addis Ababa, which hosts the African Union headquarters. One of the world's oldest Christian nations, it adopted Christianity in the fourth century CE, and its heritage sites include the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and the ruins of Aksum. The country was never permanently colonized and includes more than 80 ethnic groups, among them the Oromo and Amhara.
