Fabuloso All Purpose Cleaner

In February 2023, Colgate-Palmolive recalled roughly 3.9 million bottles of Fabuloso multi-purpose cleaner because some lots risked contamination with Pseudomonas bacteria. Affected lot codes could be checked against the company's recall notice, and consumers were told to stop using and dispose of flagged bottles.

The classic Fabuloso is a fragrant all-purpose cleaner and degreaser, not a registered disinfectant — check the label for the word 'disinfectant' or an EPA registration number if killing germs is the goal. For kitchen surfaces, you should also rinse after cleaning since it isn't formulated for food-contact residue.

The label's guidance is roughly a capful per gallon of water for mopping, and using it full-strength on floors is generally overkill. It's also frequently misused as a soak or room scent in viral videos, which is not what the product is designed for.

Used as directed and allowed to dry, it's generally fine for households with pets, but the strong fragrance means you should keep animals off floors until dry and never leave open containers where pets can drink. Cats in particular are sensitive to strong fragrances, so ventilate well during use.
