description Fen River Overview

The Fen River is a river in Shanxi Province, China, and a tributary of the Yellow River. It rises in the Guancen Mountains of Ningwu County, flows through the Taiyuan basin and other central Shanxi valleys, and joins the Yellow River near Hejin. The river is about 694 kilometres long and drains a substantial part of Shanxi. Its course has made it an important geographic axis for settlements, agriculture, and water management in the province.
