description Siret Overview

The Siret, also known as Sireth, is a river of Eastern Europe that rises in the Carpathian region of northern Ukraine and flows south through Romania. It joins the Danube near Galați, and most of its drainage basin lies in Romania. The river is about 647 kilometers long in commonly cited Romanian basin data, although published totals vary with the source definition; it is one of the major Ukrainian and Romanian tributary systems of the Danube.
