description Flag Fen Overview

Flag Fen is a Bronze Age archaeological site in the fenland near Peterborough, England. Excavations revealed a timber causeway and a series of wooden structures built in wet conditions, together with weapons, tools, ornaments, animal remains, and other objects placed in the water. The main construction phases date to the second and first millennia BCE, with a major causeway built around 1000 BCE. The site is important for studying prehistoric wetland activity, ritual deposition, transport, and settlement in eastern England.
