Frank Parkin

description Frank Parkin Overview

Frank Parkin was a British sociologist known for analyzing class inequality through the concept of social closure. In Marxism and Class Theory: A Bourgeois Critique, published in 1979, he argued that groups preserve advantages by restricting access to valued resources, credentials, occupations, and opportunities. His distinction between exclusion and usurpation offered an alternative to class theories centered primarily on ownership of productive property.
