What changed in the GRE General Test on September 22, 2023?
The revised computer-delivered GRE has one 30-minute Analyze an Issue task, two Verbal sections of 12 and 15 questions, and two Quantitative sections of 12 and 15 questions. ETS lists total testing time at about 1 hour 58 minutes, compared with about 3 hours 45 minutes for the older format.
What score ranges does the GRE General Test report?
Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning are each scored from 130 to 170 in one-point steps. Analytical Writing is scored from 0 to 6 in half-point steps, so the test reports three separate scores.
Can I skip and return to questions on the computer GRE?
Yes, ETS says you can skip questions, move around within the current section and change answers before that section ends. The second Verbal and second Quantitative section is section-level adaptive, so its difficulty depends on performance in the first section of that measure.
When do GRE General Test scores arrive, and how long can I send them?
ETS says official scores are available in an account about 8-10 days after the test date. GRE scores are reportable for 5 years, and ScoreSelect lets a retaker choose which results from that period to send.
