description Grijalva River Overview

The Grijalva River is a major river of southeastern Mexico. It is named after the Spanish conquistador Juan de Grijalva and flows generally northward through the states of Chiapas and Tabasco before reaching the Gulf of Mexico. The river is about 600 kilometers long and is one of the principal waterways connecting Mexico’s interior southeastern regions with the Gulf coast.
