description Habutai Silk Overview

Habutai is a lightweight, smooth silk fabric woven in a simple plain weave. Developed in Japan and later produced in other silk-manufacturing regions, it is valued for its soft hand, subtle sheen, fluid drape, and relatively even surface. Dressmakers and textile artists use it for garment linings, lightweight clothing, scarves, dyeing, and silk painting, with different fabric weights selected according to the required opacity and structure.
