description IJN Nagato Overview

Nagato was a Nagato-class battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, commissioned in 1920 and armed with eight 410 mm guns. It served as Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto's flagship during the attack on Pearl Harbor and later participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After Japan's surrender, the United States used the ship as a target in the 1946 Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll, where it sank following the underwater Baker detonation.
