The knob-billed duck, Sarkidiornis melanotos, is a large waterfowl species of tropical Africa and parts of South Asia. It is named for the prominent fleshy knob on the upper bill of the adult male, which becomes especially conspicuous during the breeding season. The species uses wetlands, rivers, lakes, and flooded areas, where it feeds and rests in association with open water and surrounding vegetation.
