Lake Nasser

description Lake Nasser Overview

Lake Nasser is a massive reservoir in southern Egypt and northern Sudan, created by the construction of the Aswan High Dam across the Nile River. Completed in 1970, the dam flooded a vast area, leading to the relocation of ancient monuments such as the Abu Simbel temples. The portion of the lake located within Sudan is officially known as Lake Nubia. The reservoir supports a significant freshwater fishery, particularly for Nile perch, and facilitates irrigation projects in the region.
