Lake Mweru is a freshwater lake located on the border between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It forms part of the upper Congo River drainage basin, receiving water from the Luapula River and draining out via the Luvua River. The lake is approximately 110 kilometers long and supports local fishing communities that harvest species such as Nile perch and tilapia.
