Lake Oahe is a massive reservoir straddling the states of South Dakota and North Dakota on the Missouri River. It was created by the construction of the Oahe Dam, which was completed in 1962 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As one of the largest reservoirs in the United States by volume, it extends for over 230 miles upstream.

The lake plays a critical role in regional flood control, navigation, irrigation, and hydroelectric power generation.
