Little hermit

description Little hermit Overview

The little hermit (Phaethornis longuemareus) is a small species of hummingbird native to northeastern South America. Its geographical range extends across the Guianas, Venezuela, and the island of Trinidad, where it primarily inhabits the understory of tropical lowland forests. Like other hermit hummingbirds, it is distinguished by its elongated, decurved bill and mostly muted green and brown plumage. A defining behavioral characteristic is its mating system, where males congregate in localized groups called leks to perform vocal displays to attract females.
