description Megachile sculpturalis Overview
Megachile sculpturalis, commonly called the giant resin bee, is a large solitary bee in the family Megachilidae. It is native to East Asia, and females use plant resin when constructing nest cells, a behavior reflected in the common name; unlike honey bees, it does not live in a permanent social colony. The species was recorded in North America in 1994 and has since spread in parts of North America and Europe as an introduced species.
