Michel Lafarge, who passed away in 2024, was a staunch traditionalist who avoided chemical fertilizers and embraced biodynamic viticulture long before it became popular in Burgundy. He championed the concept of 'lutte raisonnée' (reasoned fight), intervening as little as possible in the vineyard to let the terroir naturally express itself.

While they produce excellent Bourgogne and village-level wines, their most famous bottlings come from premier cru vineyards in Volnay, specifically the 'Clos du Château des Ducs' and 'Caillerets.'
