Mount Elbrus, at 5,642 meters (18,510 ft), is the highest peak in Europe. It's a dormant volcano with two summits covered in glaciers. Mount Elbruss prominence is 4,716 meters (15,472 ft). While considered technically less challenging than some other high peaks, the altitude and unpredictable weather can be significant obstacles.
The first ascent was in 1829 by Khusbut Khosayev and Abbias Subkhayev.
