Mustard White

description Mustard White Overview

The Mustard White (Pieris oleracea) is a pierid butterfly native to Canada and the northeastern United States. Its wings are mainly white, while the spring form is distinguished by dark green or gray scaling that follows the veins on the underside of the hindwing; this marking becomes much weaker in later seasonal broods. The species lives in wooded areas and other open habitats, and its larvae feed on plants in the mustard family, Brassicaceae.
