Yato is a minor deity and a self-proclaimed "Delivery God," who dreams of having millions of worshippers. Yato takes five-yen offerings because he is a minor god trying to build worship one small job at a time. The coin also fits the Japanese shrine custom of offering five yen for good fortune.

Hiyori Iki becomes connected to Yato after a traffic accident involving him. After that, her soul starts slipping out of her body, pulling her into the world of gods, spirits, and Regalia.
