Pine Beauty

description Pine Beauty Overview

The Pine Beauty, Panolis flammea, is a noctuid moth found across parts of Europe and Eurasia. Its caterpillars feed primarily on pine, including Scots pine, and can become numerous enough to damage trees through defoliation. For that reason, the species is relevant to forestry, especially where pine is grown commercially. Adults have patterned forewings that combine brown, gray, and reddish tones.
